In 2018, Robert Boyd was elected by the the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities as a Corresponding Member. This is a learned society of eminent scientists with international reputation. The Academy can look back on over 100 years of history. So far, it counts 28 Nobel Prize winners, four Balzan Prize winners, 41 recipients of the Pour le Mérite, 30 Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz-Prize winners and 16 winners of the Landesforschungspreises Baden-Württemberg among its members. Members meet to discuss current societal and to promote young scientists. The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences is a member of the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities.
